Students Who Care Group

What is "Students Who Care?"
Students Who Care is a FFA sponsored group of families that want to participate in a variety of service projects to teach our kids to be more grateful, tolerant, healthy and increase their self-esteem. All Miramar Ranch families are invited to join the activities. Last year the children of Miramar Ranch and their families raised almost $6000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, sent care packages to our Miramar Ranch parents that were deployed to Iraq, and adopted Encanto Elementary (near downtown San Diego), collecting graduation clothes for the sixth graders at this needy school.

This year will be even better! We will be having four “Students Who Care” activities during the school year and they are held on Friday evenings. Our first “Students Who Care” night will be: Friday, October 5th from 7:00-8:00pm in the Multi-purpose Room (theme is “helping Encanto Students)”. The other dates are the first Friday night in December (kids will present ideas and then vote on charity), February (“heart attacking” - a way to cheer up others) and April (Earth Day - ways to help the environment). All are from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the Multi-purpose Room. Each activity night includes a warm-up service activity, guest speaker on the topic we are working on (geared towards young children) and a game. We try to make each theme unique to give the students a well-rounded experience. This year we are excited to go global, by whatever we do here, we will also do in another part of the world. The kids will find out where in the world they have reached someone the night of the activity! It should be a lot of fun!

If you would like to be a part of this group then please contact Julie Rose at Julie.rose@netzero.net. The events are for the entire family, so no need for babysitters. All correspondence is via email.
